Springwater help Tickford corporate identity exceed expectations.


The Task

Motor industry coach builders and engineering specialists, Tickford Limited, had commissioned brand consultants, Strangebrew, to revamp their identity to meet the challenges of a changing motor industry. As part of the team, Springwater’s extensive print knowledge and expertise were needed to realise the exacting demands of the brand consultants.

The Challenge

Strangebrew wanted to create a modern, clean look incorporating a logo that depicted the motor engineering background of this automotive legend. The logo was to be incorporated into a range of new stationery, display and promotional materials.

Originally proposed as a two-colour concept, Springwater advised that the subtle tones and hues of Tickford’s new silver logo would look flat if printed using a single colour silver ink. Moreover, Springwater emphasised the need for a high quality paper, not only to give the finished job product a superior feel, but to ensure a surface on which to print the high definition quality images that had been selected to represent Tickford’s heritage as respected motor engineers. Only after exacting proofing tests on carefully selected paper samples was the final stock chosen. The consultant also took Springwater’s advice to create the silver logo out of 4-colour process.

The Result

A crisp, vibrant and superior set of business and marketing materials that truly reflected the company’s brief, giving the customer what HE wanted not what the PRINTER wanted to give him. Springwater were praised for helping both Tickford and Strangebrew to exceed all expectations in producing collateral that created an outstanding first impression.

Springwater help Screening Clinic to print a fault free Patient Report


The Task

Marketing consultants, PSA Creative, had devised an innovative health screening report booklet for their client, specialist private screening company, The Health Screen Clinic. Springwater were invited to put forward recommendations for producing the booklet in a limited quantity for market testing.

The Challenge

Because the final booklet was to be printed in 4-colour process, Springwater suggested that the market test should be done with a product that echoed the same impact, quality and prestige of the finished product. Springwater proposed that the trial batch should be printed digitally. This would allow a 4-colour booklet to be produced very economically in a limited quantity, and for changes to be made for a minimal cost before a full litho print run was commissioned.

The Result

Following market tests of 300 digitally printed booklets, alterations to the artwork were made before the final litho version was printed for distribution. Springwater’s ability to handle both digital and litho printing meant that both jobs were completed to a high standard and well within the agreed budget.

Springwater help design agency to save 25% on a targeted mailing


The Task

A local design agency wanted to create a targeted marketing campaign similar in collateral to one previously produced by another supplier. The task was to match or exceed the high quality of the previous work, and show a substantial savings that would secure the design agency further work from their new client.

The Challenge

To supply 1000 A4 6pp landscape brochures, an 8pp A4 brochure, a personalised A4 mailer and a C4 envelope. The specification was to be of a similar quality or higher than had previously been achieved but with a 20% saving!

This job had previously been sourced from a local printer who had a limited print capability – just one B2 press. It was immediately apparent to Springwater that the printer would have outsourced most of the project. The 6pp landscape brochure would not fit a B2 press. The letter could not be personalised without digital technology, and the C4 envelope could not be cost effectively printed on a B2 press.

Because Springwater work with almost all types of printer, they were able to “mix and match” the printing of all components in the most effective way – the 6pp A4 brochure by a B1 printer, the 8pp A4 brochure by a B2 printer, the envelope by a specialist B3 envelope printer (who also collated the package and mailed it) and the A4 letter was produced by a digital printer.

The Result

Springwater used 4 separate suppliers for this package. However, because they managed the whole process, and matched the capabilities of each printer to the specific requirements for each piece in the package, the overall quality was consistently high. Furthermore, Springwater were able to realise a 25% saving over the previous cost, which they were happy to pass on to their highly delighted customer.

Springwater help NGRS manage costs & provide outstanding quality & service


The Task

The National Guild of Removers and Storers (NGRS) were having quality, supply and reliability issues with a previous printer. Costs were also spiralling. Springwater were called in to address these issues and recommend solutions.

The Challenge

A thorough audit of NGRS’s main printing needs helped Springwater to identify two areas where savings and efficiencies could be made. Firstly, Springwater identified a monthly magazine, which would lend itself to an alternative mode of production. Secondly, an ongoing wallet, which required a combination of top quality printing, complex hand finishing and minute attention to detail in its collation and distribution.

The Result

Having successfully identified where major savings could be made, Springwater took over the management of all NGRS print collateral. They appointed a top quality B1 printer to print the monthly publication, which up to that point had been printed on a B2 press. Matching this job to the right machinery immediately saved NGRS money.

The wallet, consisting of 12 components, had previously been printed on a B2 press. advised that using a B1 printer for certain parts of the work, and a B2 printer for the rest, could make significant cost savings. Again Springwater appointed two reliable printers, each with specialisations tailored to these products. The result, a highly satisfied customer who now receives a first class service, first class product and all at a price considerably cheaper than previously paid.
